The Port Hope Police Services Board is pleased to announce the filling of its two vacancies with the appointments of Jason Wooland, as a Provincial appointee, and Connie Flewitt, as a municipal appointee.
Jason Wooland
Jason Wooland is a nuclear energy executive with 25 years of experience in progressive leadership roles.
Beginning in nuclear operations at the Pickering A generating station, he is currently the Director of Security Operations for all of Ontario Power Generation’s nuclear sites, including oversight of the tactical response teams. Previous roles included Director of Operations and Maintenance for Nuclear Waste Management (OPG) and Senior Manager of Business Development for Laurentis – each of these involved successfully navigating complex negotiations and providing active oversight to large capital projects.
Additionally, Mr. Wooland has led numerous transformational initiatives – he brings deep experience in Labour Relations and culture change through engagement. Mr. Wooland and his family are proud residents of rural Port Hope. In his spare time, he enjoys running and cycling – you may see him out on Northumberland’s roads.
Connie Flewitt
Connie Flewitt is a retired Senior Human Resources Leader with a diverse and extensive background in change management, talent development, succession planning, and corporate policy compliance. With experience at Coca-Cola Canada Bottling Ltd. (2009-2022), Ms. Flewitt served as National Director of Human Resources, overseeing HR strategies, employee relations, and talent development across Canada.
The role included leading a team of HR professionals and collaborating with senior leadership. Ms. Flewitt’s prior experience also includes HR leadership at Aviva Insurance, TVOntario, and Hewitt Associates, focusing on compensation, benefits, and rewards. Ms. Flewitt holds certifications in Organizational Development and Leadership and is active in volunteer work, with a passion for travel, hiking, and food.
Port Hope Police Services Board Background
Police services boards oversee how policing is provided in their local community. They contribute to their community’s safety and well-being by working with local citizens and organizations to make sure their community receives the appropriate policing it needs.
The Port Hope Police Services Board is responsible for providing adequate and effective police services to the residents of the Municipality of Port Hope.
This is achieved by providing governance to both the Port Hope Police Services (Urban Area) and Ontario Provincial Police under contract (Rural Area).
The composition of police services boards is prescribed by provincial legislation. With the appointments of Mr. Wooland and Ms. Flewitt, the Port Hope Police Services Board is now at full complement and consists of:
1 Member appointed by Council (Connie Flewitt)
2 Members of Council (Mayor Hankivsky, Councillor Andrews)
2 Members appointed by the Province (George Kallonakis, Jason Wooland)
