Northumberland OPP – Kingston Man Charged with Flight from Police (Name Released)

Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with multiple offences following an initial traffic stop.

On September 1, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., OPP were conducting radar enforcement on Highway 401 in the Municipality of Brighton. A pick-up truck was observed travelling eastbound at a speed of 151 km/h in a posted 110 km/h limit. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver pulled over. Police recorded details relevant to the vehicle and made a demand for documents from the driver. The individual then spun the tires of the vehicle before entering back onto the highway at speed.

As a result of an investigation, officers arrested the driver on September 5, 2024.

Their licence was suspended for 30-days and the accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
