Ontario Investing in Career’s in Health, Social and Children’s Services
Government is investing $723,035 to help the Community Training and Development Centre train new workers in health, social and children’s services.
The Ontario government is investing $723,035 in a project developed by the Community Training and Development Centre This initiative is supported through the Skills Development Fund which is a program run by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
“It is imperative that we support clear pathways into in-demand careers in health, social and children’s services as they are such an integral part of supporting our community,” said MPP David Piccini, Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development. “I am proud that the Skills Development Fund is supporting local programming run by experts to provide people with the best possible opportunity to learn and progress in these fields.”
The Community Training and Development Centre is launching a brand new cross-functional training program. This program is supported by experts across the health and social services fields, focusing on human development, understanding vulnerable populations, professional ethics as well as essential workplace skills. The program will be split into two components, the training element will involve learning from sector experts over a 20-day period through an online method. This will be followed by work experience which will be delivered by an employer from a health, social or children’s service sector. This program will provide opportunities to 100 participants spread across a large geographical area who are looking to find a pathway into a meaningful field that is in need of new passionate people to support our community.
The Community Training and Development Centre will be using a cross functional training approach that is focused on training core competencies that are present across health, social and children’s service sectors.
“The Community Training and Development Centre is grateful for the support and recognition by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development, of our new cross functional training project,” said Madelaine Currelly, CEO of Community Training and Development Centre. “By using a cross functional model of training, and using our technology solutions to deliver the content, we will be able to meet more employer staffing needs in these high demand sectors, and we can address the need for greater productivity within the job sectors”.
The Skills Development Fund supports a wide range of organizations for innovative projects that drive the province’s economic growth and address challenges to hiring, training or retraining workers.

· The project is funded through Ontario’s Skills Development Fund, which supports ground-breaking programs that connect jobseekers with the skills and training they need to find well-paying careers close to home. Since its launch in 2021, Ontario’s SDF Training Stream has supported over 700 projects, aiming to help almost 600,000 people with the skills and training they need to find well-paying careers close to home.
