Capitol Theatres Red Carpet Gala

The Capitol Theatre Port Hope recently wrapped up their highly anticipated and now annual multi-day community celebration, designed to bring together local businesses, and drum up excitement for the Capitol’s 2024 season of on stage programming.

On April 27, a week of activities culminated with a Red Carpet Gala Celebration, hosted by Layne the Auctionista, with featured performances by Greg Keelor (of Blue Rodeo), Jimmy Bowskill (The Sheepdogs), and Melissa Payne (The Hicks).

With a live and silent auction, direct donations from the audience, and a generous matching donation from Rod Stewart and Masumi Suzuki, the Capitol’s Season Rollout events this year surpassed fundraising goals to bring in an impressive $70,000 for the theatre.

The funds raised from the 2024 Season Rollout will support the Capitol Theatre’s 2024 Summer Season, and in particular, the props and costumes that are essential to bringing their productions to life. These important theatre elements are made in Port Hope, on site at the Capitol. The theatre’s amazing props team crafts each piece with precision and creativity, ensuring that every set piece adds just the right touch to the storytelling. Meanwhile, the costume team works tirelessly, stitching together the very fabric of the eras and personas the Capitol actors and designers explore on stage. Their expertise ensures that each character not only looks the part but feels it deeply, providing a rich theatre-going experience for audiences.
