Redeveloped emergency department at Trenton Memorial Hospital will connect more people to care in Bay of Quinte Region
“Our government is addressing the high demand for emergency care in the Bay of Quinte Region by investing in emergency department infrastructure, so people can continue to connect to convenient care options, close to home,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “Improvements to Trenton Memorial Hospital will mean local families can continue to access the care they need, where they need it, for years to come.”
Through this investment, approximately 6,000 square feet will be renovated and 1,000 square feet will be added to Trenton Memorial Hospital for the new state-of-the-art emergency department. The upgrade will allow the hospital to treat and care for more people, as well as improve patient safety and quality of care through enhanced infection prevention and control measures and dedicated areas for bariatrics and mental health.
As a next step, the ministry is working with Quinte Health to complete early planning and design for this project. A construction schedule will be confirmed once future planning is complete and the project is tendered and awarded.
