Community’s Generosity Brings Four Free Public Skates to Grafton

The sign in front of the Grafton’s Haldimand Memorial Arena says there’s free public skating Feb. 5, 12 and 26 sponsored by Ted Nasmith – but that’s not the whole story.

In fact, the generous donors behind these and an additional March 11 date are the entire community.

The money actually came from the people who enjoyed the beautiful Christmas Market held in Grafton in December. Nasmith carried a collection can and a sign urging support for public skating.

In the end, he collected enough to rent the arena for four dates of free skating.

Each free public skate runs from 4 to 5 p.m., and it’s open to all ages from children to seniors.
