Even Patrick Lanoue has to take a few moments to try and describe all the Christmas ornaments adorning his Campbellford front lawn.
Lanoue who lives at 2 Taylor Lane in Campbellford said he has approximately over 60 inflatable lawn Christmas decorations, but he can’t put them all out once because he doesn’t have the room.
Lanoue stopped and spoke with Today’s Northumberland just as he was about to take his dog for a walk recently.
Coming into Campbellford from the south, Campbellford always has magnificent Christmas lights along Grand Road, but it’s pretty hard to miss the bright decorations Lanoue has on the opposite side of the roadway.
Lanoue estimates it was approximately 15 years ago he started the display.
“I just started at one time with one, then a couple, then it grew to this.”
For those people that have seen the display and are wondering – Lanoue said the display doubles his hydro bill. He used to have the display on 24-hours a day, but that tripled his hydro bill, so now he’s cut the hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
But it’s all worth it when Lanoue see’s people get out of their vehicles and walk through the display.
“They love it – they love it. The kids love it, but I have many adults come as well and they enjoy it just as much.”
And that’s his motivation because it takes upwards of five days to get everything out of storage and to set it up.
“The worst thing I worry about is the wind. Strong winds really create havoc.”
Just for safety if it is windy, Lanoue will unplug them so they aren’t damaged.
But for all the hard work that it takes each year, Lanoue has no regrets adding, “it’s awesome” to see people go through.
