Cornerstone Thanks Community for Another Successful “Walk A Mile”

Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) is pleased to announce that over $54,000 was raised through the 16th annual Walk A Mile event. These funds will support the vital programming and services available to women, children, and youth through shelter, counselling, housing, and prevention programming.

“We rely on our compassionate community’s support to be able to continue providing the various programs and services Cornerstone offers to those impacted by gender-based violence in our community. Walk A Mile plays a critical role in funding these services, and every year our community continues to amaze us with their support and generosity. We are truly grateful for this year’s spectacular results” said Cornerstone Executive Director, Nancy Johnston.

“We are thankful to everyone who helped make this event possible. We would like to thank our two lead sponsors, Post Consumer Brands and Canadian Tire Cobourg, and all of our generous sponsors for their support, including Shoppers Cobourg, Cobourg Police Service, Spoolon, Part Time CFO Services, ACME Electric, Baker Tilly Cobourg, Cameco, Nissan Cobourg, and HTM Insurance.

Further, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated long-term walkers, new participants, committed volunteers, Cobourg Fire, Cobourg Police Service, Port Hope Police Service, Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums, and the Lions Club of Cobourg. Walk A Mile would not be possible without your commitment and support.

Our community’s generosity directly impacts the work we do and improves the lives of local women and children who have been impacted by gender-based violence, thank you”, adds Johnston.

Walk A Mile is a lighthearted family friendly event that welcomes everyone to come together and participate to create awareness about a serious issue and work towards a future free from gender-based violence.

Established in 1983, Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) is an accredited violence against women agency working to end gender-based violence by providing accessible, compassionate, and best practice modeled programs and services inclusive of shelter, counselling, housing support, and prevention through a support system that inspires hope, creates safety, and fosters resilience
