Exclusive – One Self Described “Outlaw” in Custody After Numerous Police Pursuits

After a week on the run and numerous pursuits across Ontario, a suspect was apprehended early Monday morning in Alnwick/Haldimand Township, just east of Cobourg.
It was approximately 6:30 a.m. when Northumberland OPP officers swooped in by a Nature Reserve south of Orchard Grove Road and cornered the suspect who was still in the pickup truck that had been stolen a week earlier on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
Under the Facebook of Jordan Denny, who is the suspect, texted a person about being wanted by police.
Denny described himself as a “outlaw” and said he was just “layin low.”
By all accounts didn’t go without a fight.
The back of the stolen pickup had smashed into a tree. A police cruiser was also damaged. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
But the important thing is, the community is safe.
Denny said about the McDonald’s incident, “Fuckin cops an idiot. Shoots at a steel truck n shoots his partner. Can’t believe it.”
Denny said he has a “big problem” with authority, police and the government.
“Most of them are crooked rich, fucks.”
Near the end of the communication, Denny stated, “theyre not gunna get me. As you seen today. I see a cop n I’m gone.”
Police officers throughout the area had been on edge since a number of pursuits across the province took place with the stolen truck.
One pursuit by Madoc OPP on Monday was called off because it was too dangerous.
Throughout the week there were sightings, but nothing of substance.
Late last week, the truck was spotted in the parking lot of the Cobourg Library, but as a cruiser pulled in the truck fled the scene coming in contact with the cruiser.
On Sunday, July 30, 2023 the truck was again spotted in the area of Westwood Drive in Cobourg. The vehicle was heading north on Rogers Road where it turned left onto County Road 2.
Area police services were advised, and searched the area including a former business where the suspect worked, but failed to locate the truck.
Later in the afternoon Port Hope Police were advised the vehicle was in the drive-thru of McDonald’s on Rose Glen Road.
A Port Hope Police cruiser went the opposite way trying to prevent the suspect vehicle from escaping.
At least one shot was fired by police. It’s believed a ricochet from the bullet struck an officer in the head. (She was taken to hospital and later released on Sunday evening.)
The suspect mounted the curb in the drive-thru, drove onto the grass and escaped.
With the brazen driving of the suspect, police were very concerned if the suspect wasn’t caught someone would be seriously injured.
Late Sunday, the City of Kawartha Lakes issued a release the vehicle may be in their area.
But Northumberland OPP managed to make the arrest early Monday morning.
Jordan Denny is in custody and is facing a plethora of charges and will be appearing for a bail hearing today.
