Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign Raises Record-Breaking $54,518 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northumberland.

Smiles at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northumberland (BBBSN) have continued to shine on thanks to the support of local Tim Hortons restaurant owners, thousands of guests and over 200 volunteers.

“We are thrilled to share with the community the outstanding results of the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign.” Says Executive Director of BBBSN, Melanie Stewart. “A total of $54,518 raised will help to fund much needed mentorship programs across Northumberland County, providing youth with positive social supports and opportunity to expand their possibilities.”. Stewart added,

“We are dedicated to ensuring that young people who are vulnerable to many challenges including struggles with mental health, can continue to access mentorship programs helping to reduce these risks and create a better tomorrow.”

The support from the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign comes at a time when BBBSN’s mentoring programs are in high-demand from families and schools across Northumberland County, as the increased need for children and youth mental health supports continue to rise. BBBSN has been working hard to reach the high demand of requests for services, and $54,518 will go a long way in helping the team to support more youth across the county.

Every year, Tim Hortons guests and restaurant owners across the country rally together behind the weeklong Smile Cookie campaign. It’s a great way for Tims guests and restaurant owners to give back to their communities.

“Cobourg and Colborne showed up with tremendous support” says Tim Hortons Store owner Jen Mccall. “The Smile Cookie campaign allowed the community to come together and support a wonderful cause in support of our youth; the future of our community.”

About Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northumberland

Big Brothers Big Sisters plays a significant role in the lives of children and youth. Last year alone we assisted 365 children and their families through our many services and activities. Big Brothers Big Sisters offers both one-to-one and group programming in the community and in schools.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northumberland, we believe every child should given the same opportunity – to grow – to learn – to reach their full potential. By connecting youth in our community with a caring mentor we can expand their possibilities, and provide positive social supports necessary for youth to manage life’s challenges.

Each time we pair a child with a mentor or introduce a group of students to an in-school program, we start something incredible – a life-changing relationship built on friendship, trust and empowerment.
