Sleeping Beauty: A Panto Awakening Now Playing at the Capitol Theatre
Sleeping Beauty (A Panto Awakening) is now playing at the Capitol Theatre in Port Hope until December 23, 2022.
Commissioned by Artistic Producer Rob Kempson, this brand new script has been created exclusively for audiences at the Capitol Theatre.
Written by Second City alumni (and husband and wife team) Paloma Nunez and Kevin Whalen, this hilarious musical re-telling features popular music in new arrangements by Scott Pietrangelo.
It’s a holiday tradition turned on its head.
The tale tells the story of Sleeping Beauty is at the centre of a conflict between the two telecommunications giants in Canada. With Maleficent trying to regain her power, a Prince who solves every problem with a kiss, and a kind and gentle Sasquatch, this fairytale re-telling pokes fun at cancel culture, performative politics, corporate greed, and our divisive society – all wrapped up in one entertaining musical package.
