“Growing Wild” Unveiled in Downtown Cobourg
The Art Gallery of Northumberland along with Amy Shackleton and Julian Brown unveiled their artwork in downtown Cobourg on Saturday, November 12, 2022.
The artwork titled Growing Wild measures 8′ x 12′ and is acrylic on aluminum panels.
It features images from Maui, Chicago, Jasper National Park and Kootenay National Park.
While Shackleton created the artwork, Brown collaborated making the piece have an augmented reality.
The artwork invites viewers to “immerse in an environment where urban and wild environments collide in search of growth. The artists combine melting glaciers, burnt trees and flooded streets to ask pressing questions about our future.”
Using a mobile device, people are able to view the 3D digital artwork and walk around to explore it from all angles by scanning the QR code or going to linktr.ee/GrowingWildMural.
Visual artist Amy Shackleton and digital artist Julian Brown are a husband and wife team. Amy has pioneered a drip painting technique and subject matter capturing the imagination of millions online. Julian, an digital animator and 3D artist, has worked on projects across Canada.
Growing Wild will be located on the south east wall at the corner of King Street East and Division Street for one year.
