Opening Trout Season Finally Here
The rivers and streams in the area were full not only of rainbow trout but also of anglers with the opening day of fishing kicking in at 12:01 am on Saturday, April 23, 2022.
Along with local anglers in Cobourg Creek and Port Hope`s Ganraska River, there were some from outside Ontario, including Quebec and also visitors from the United States.
At Cobourg Creek on Saturday, there were three generations of one family fishing. The youngest was thrilled with the fish she’d caught.
In Cobourg, Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry Officers were checking limits to fish being caught and licenses.
In Port Hope while some fish caught had their photo taken before being placed back in the water, others were kept.
Unfortunately for all the good anglers along the streams and creeks, there are a few who leave their garbage behind.
