Afternoon Fire Causes Major Damage to Port Hope Home
Fire officials suspect a possible electrical issue was the cause of a fire that caused major damage to a home in Port Hope on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
At approximately 3:30 p.m. Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to a home on Armour Street for a structure fire.
When crews arrived on scene there was heavy flames coming from the side and rear of the home.
The occupants of the home quickly exited after discovering the fire in a closet near the kitchen area.
Firefighters battled the flames from the outside and also an interior attack.
Both the interior and exterior of the home suffered heavy fire and smoke damage.
It’s estimated the damage will exceed $400,000 and officials are looking into a suspected electrical issue as the cause of the fire.
There was no insurance coverage on the home or contents.
