The Town of Cobourg’s Economic Development Department is pleased to collaborate with Cobourg’s Downtown Business Improvement Area (DBIA) on the ‘Eat Local’ campaign in support of local cafés, bakeries, pubs, and restaurants who are offering takeout services under the current government regulations that closed all indoor dining.
As a result of the Province of Ontario’s Modified Step Two of the Roadmap to Reopen and its current restrictions that closed indoor dining, the ‘Eat Local’ social media campaign was created with a goal of helping local eateries advertise their takeout menus and food services being provided to the community.
“The Cobourg DBIA would like to remind everyone that all of our business and services are open in accordance with current government regulations,” said DBIA Administrator, Deborah Annibalini. “Please be kind to one another during this time and remember to support your local downtown businesses.”
The ‘Eat Local’ takeout campaign will include:
“This campaign will really put a spotlight on the wonderful local food establishments we have here in Cobourg,” said Ashley Purdy, Communications Manager for the Town of Cobourg. “I am pleased to collaborate with the Cobourg DBIA on a campaign that will help further support our local economy through this pandemic.”
This campaign marks one of many initiatives that the Town’s Economic Development Department has launched during the COVID-19 pandemic to assist small businesses. During the holiday season, the department launched their successful ‘Shop Your Block’ social media campaign, which showcased small local businesses spanning across various industries, including retail, food services, sporting, and athletic goods manufacturing.
In December, the Town continued their support of Cobourg’s ‘Shop Local’ movement with a partnership between the Northumberland Central Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Improvement Area. Together, they launched, ‘It’s a Wrap,’ a free holiday gift-wrapping service for customers who purchased items locally across Northumberland County.
