Rhonda Traill and Amanda Bevan along with employees at Post Consumer Brands helped make Christmas that much better by providing enough food hampers for 20 families.

The Salvation Army dropped by on Friday, December 18, 2021 to pick up the items from the factory on D’Arcy Street in Cobourg.

Plant Manager, Craig Byers said, “Rhonda and Amanda stepped up and helped create this situation that we see today and the opportunity to help so many families in the community.”

“They rallied all of us together and everybody contributed to help make this a reality. We’re so proud to be in the community and helping those in the community and making sure that families have a really good Christmas in these challenging times.”

Trail said the social club started in August 2021 and after working around the clock in uncertain times, making sure there is enough breakfast cereals on the shelves of grocery stores, “we decided to throw a little fun into the mix.”

The women created the social club for employees to go out into the community and enjoy time together doing fun things while supporting local businesses.

Every month employees enjoy different activities like staff barbeques, chilli cook-offs or axe throwing events at a local business.

For the month of December Traill challenged staff to make five complete food hampers with everything possible that you would need to make a Christmas dinner including a $25 grocery gift card to purchase the meat of choice.

“Our amazing employees rallied together and provided enough food hampers and gift cards for 20 families.”

Employees also held a toy drive and collected toys and gift cards.

“We are very excited to be able to help those less fortunate in our community this holiday season and we look forward to continuing to support those in need in the years to come.”
