Tammies Jammies December 14, 2021

A Brooklin couple’s donation put Tammies Jammie’s well over the top on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.

Peter and Kathy Watson donated approximately 150 pairs of pyjamas along with numerous toys to Tammies Jammies that collects items each year for the Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society.

The couple donates at Christmas, but hadn’t thought of anything this year, until they heard about Tammies Jammies.

Watson heard morning host Stu Jeffries on Boom 97.3 mentioning Tammies Jammies in a segment called Tell Me Something Good and she thought it was a “match made in heaven.”

“We had just bought a company (Pritchard Mechanical Inc.) in Port Hope and want to be part of the community and help out as much as we can.”

“I went a little crazy buying. But it is for the kids and we love kids we think Tammie is doing a great job.”

Growing up, Watson said she didn’t have a lot growing up, but her mother always made sure that Christmas was special for the family.

“It speaks to my heart,” said Watson before tearing up.

The couple have three grown kids of their own and to think of children waking up not having gifts was just – unacceptable.

“I thought my goodness, this is all kids are going to get for Christmas so I went crazy and bought more toys.”

Her husband Peter said, “it’s nice to be able to contribute back to the community.”

Port Hope Police Constable Tammie Staples started the program several years ago and couldn’t hold back her excitement seeing the boxes of clothes and toys coming into the police station on Tuesday morning.

In the afternoon Staples and Special Constable Shawn Murray brought down most of the pyjamas and toys to Port Hope Planning Department Building on Mill Street South.

When two members of the Inner Wheel Cobourg were waiting to drop off their donation of 40 pyjamas.

Kim Henry who is the Executive Director of The Children’s Foundation in Belleville was overwhelmed with the generous donations

Donations are still be excepted until December 20.
