Two anglers were charged with trespassing in Cobourg Creek on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.
At approximately 4:20 p.m. Cobourg Police were notified of people fishing in Cobourg Creek just south of Elgin Street.
Police arrived on scene and spoke with two men, one from Cobourg and one from Ajax.
Both men were charged with trespassing which carries a $240 fine.
The man from Ajax was also charged possession of more fish than is allowed for a sport license and having no fishing license.
If convicted the Ajax man could receive nearly $1,000 in fines.
Both men also had their fish and fishing gear seized by police.
Carl Fletcher of Genedco Property Management who monitors for the property owners said “there have been numerous “no fishing/no trespassing” signs installed throughout the area.
“This is a reminder that if you decided to fish in this private area that it is enforced with stiff fines and fishing equipment could be confiscated by Cobourg Police.”
