Update – COVID Stricken Northumberland County Paramedic Slowly Improving
Northumberland County Paramedic stricken with COVID-19 slowly improving.
Joni Krampert went into the hospital on April 25, was diagnosed with COVID-19 and shortly after was on a ventilator and place in an induced coma.
Initially, Krampert’s condition was literally hour by hour.
Days and weeks passed with very little change.
But Krampert’s daughter Katherine shared some good news on social media Friday, June 11, 2021.
“I just wanted to post an update on the status of my mom. This week my mom has made a lot of progress! She has woken up from her induced coma and has been extubated (ventilator removed).
Krampert said her mother is breathing on her own, but still requires some oxygen.
“These are big steps in the right direction! She is so strong and such a fighter! Mom still has a long road to recovery as she is working towards regaining her strength and mobility. Due to the prolonged time on the ventilator, she is still not able to communicate vocally but is communicating through gestures.”
“We are so proud and so happy with how far she has come as she continues to fight her battle.”
Krampert said, “her battle is not over yet but we are one step closer!”
“We can’t thank you all enough for your continued support, well wishes, donations, prayers, gifts, and so much more!”
“We are very fortunate for all of the love and support.”
