Conservation Officers with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry were out on Sunday, April 25, 2021 helping to make sure anglers were following protocol on the first weekend of trout season.
Sylvan Conservation Area north of Port Hope is closed by the Ganaraska Conservation Authority to help keep the number of people visiting the area low due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Directly across the road in a farmer’s field where the Ganaraska River flows, signs clearly post that there is strictly no trespassing, three people were charged (one from Peterborough and two from the Toronto area) with trespassing in the farmers field and given $240 tickets.
Garbage items including plastic water containers and glass beer bottles were found along the shoreline of the river from previous “visitors.”
