Opening Day of Trout Season Brings Enforcement from MNRF Conservation Officers
Ministry of Natural Resource and Forestry officers were keeping an eye on angler on the opening season for trout fishing on Saturday, April 24, 2021.
Conservation officers charged two people with trespassing after they were caught in well posted no trespassing areas in a section of Cobourg Creek behind Cobourg YMCA and in another area just west of Ontario Street south of Elgin Street.
Both men were given a $240 ticket. One of the men told Today’s Northumberland they were from Omemee and came to Cobourg to fish for the day. The other man had caught two fish which were seized by Conservation Officers.
If you’re unsure if the area you want to fish in is private property it’s best to err on the side of caution and not fish in that spot until you can determine the status of the area.
