Port Hope Area Initiative Says Work Half Way Done On Mill Street Site

Work continues on the Mill Street site in Port Hope which is being remediated as part the Port hope Area Initiative. It includes the removal of contaminated fill and trucking the soil along the dedicated haul route to the new long-term waste management facility, said spokesperson Bill Daly. Water management of the site, which is at Port Hope’s waterfront, has been ongoing and effective.

Old contaminated building materials have been taken to the long-term waste management facility, and where possible, structures have been donated.

The work at the site is about half-way complete, with restoration planned for 2022.
