500 People Without Power After Vehicle Collides With Hydro Pole In Alnwick/Haldimand Township

One person was taken to hospital following a single vehicle collision in Alnwick/Haldimand Township on Monday, March 15, 2021.


At approximately 7:18 p.m. a vehicle travelling eastbound on Community Centre Road east of Baltimore left the roadway striking a hydro pole, snapping it and continuing on before coming to a stop.

A transformer fell to the ground and a number of wires were hanging low over the roadway.


Northmberlnad OPP blocked Community Centre Road in both directions.

Alnwick/Haldimand Fire Department along with Northumberland County Paramedics also attended the scene.

Hydro One says there are 495 customers affected by the power outage as a result of the collision.

The estimated time of power restoration is 4 a.m.

Northumberland OPP say charges are pending against the driver of the vehicle.
