Waterfront Festival and Ribfest Cancelled for Second Year Due to COVID-19
The annual Waterfront Festival and Ribfest are both cancelled for a second year due to COVID-19.
The information was released on Tuesday evening at a virtual forum by Cobourg Councillors Nicole Beatty and Adam Bureau.
The informal meeting was held on Zoom with approximately 50 people attending virtually. When asked with the status of the Waterfront Festival, Councillor Bureau stated that the Canada Day festivities put on by the Town of Cobourg are cancelled, and he expected that the Waterfront Festival would also be cancelled, but given the Festival is run by Rotary and Lions, Bureau couldn’t state anything official.
Bureau stated that vaccines are starting to take place, they may, and will likely be continuing past the days of the Waterfront Festival and Ribfest.
Lions Club member Randall Ross, who has been the Co-Chair for the last two years and currently sits on the Waterfront Festival Committee also attended the virtual meeting did state Rotary would not be taking part in the Waterfront Festival as well as the annual Ribfest.
Ross stated the press release would be coming out in the following days stating the Waterfront Festival and Ribfest would be cancelled.
