Ice is Coming Out at the Keeler Centre in Colborne

With the ongoing provincial state of emergency urging people to stay home and limit social gatherings, Cramahe Township council has decided to remove the ice from the Keeler Centre in Colborne.

After weighing expenditures costing between $12,000 and $15,000 per month against possible reopening dates, it was determined the costs of keeping ice in an arena user groups are not attending is not responsible use of taxpayer’s money.

The decision is being communicated to user groups. Feedback has been understanding and positive, staff report.

“Staff and council will now consider installing the ice earlier in late summer to compensate for the lack of availability now,” Cramahe Township Mayor Mandy Martin says.
