Cobourg Rink Will Reopen

The Saturday 10 a.m. reopening of the Rotary Harbourfront Outdoor Skating Rink that Cobourg’s Deputy Director of Community Services Teresa Behan had hoped to achieve is a reality.
Following council’s emergency vote Wednesday to close the rink to review and address provisions of the province’s declaration of an emergency, the town has announced the reopening and informs users that non-medical masks – previously a strong suggestion – are now mandatory while using the facility.
“I would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding during the temporary closure while we reviewed and received further clarity on the Stay-At-Home Order,” Behan said in the announcement.
“I am pleased that we can continue to provide another recreational outlet that promotes both physical exercise and mental health and well-being during this time.”
The rink will continue to accommodate 10 skaters at a time for 45-minute slots daily between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Use of the rink is on a reservation basis, which you can do on-line at www.cobourg.ca/outdoor-rink. Please complete all fields and, in return, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. While on the ice, users must be masked and abide by all safety protocols (including the strong recommendation to observe physical distancing). And if you are not feeling well, please stay home.
Again, no organized team sports or games of tag are allowed. And the Albert Street bus shelter remains closed.
