HKPR District Health Unit – COVID-19 Outbreak at Canadian Centre for Addictions in Port Hope

The local public health unit is today providing an update on the COVID-19 outbreaks in its area.

The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit has declared the following outbreaks:

Canadian Centre for Addictions – Port Hope, Ontario

An outbreak has been declared today at the facility after a symptomatic staff person tested positive for COVID19. Under the provincial guidance, an outbreak is to be declared in a congregate setting with one confirmed staff or resident case of COVID-19.

The administration and staff at the facility are implementing all outbreak control measures including additional environmental cleaning, and infection prevention and control measures to help contain the spread of the virus. They are working closely with staff from the HKPR District Health Unit to monitor the outbreak and implement case and contract tracing.

 

The following outbreak is still ongoing:
Cameco Fuel Manufacturing, Dorset Street Location – Port Hope, Ontario

This outbreak was declared on November 27 after a third staff person tested positive for COVID-19 and it was determined the workplace was the exposure setting for the case.

Health Unit staff are continuing to work with Cameco to conduct case and contact tracing for the outbreak and administration is co-ordinating testing of all impacted staff.
