Canadian Coast Guard to the Rescue for Newlyweds in Cobourg
When wedding plans for the now married couple of Ana and Scott Vilneff went awry due to COVID-19, members of the Canadian Coast Guard in Cobourg came to the rescue.
The couple had planned to get married at Victoria Hall on October 10, when Ana went to pick up the marriage license at Victoria Hall approximately two weeks before the wedding she was informed the ceremony had to find another location because of COVID-19.
“We went for a walk trying to brainstorm where to have our ceremony,” said Ana.
“During our walk we ended up at the pier and I point out the tree on the Coast Guard property.”
The couple immediately thought it would be the “perfect ceremony site.”
As they walked by the Coast Guard station, a employee walked out of the building.
The couple spoke with staff who agreed the wedding could take place on the lawn.
“We were thrilled,” said Ana.
And on Saturday, the wedding took place at 3 p.m. in front of 18 family members and guests officiated by Avril Ewing.
The ceremony took approximately 20-minutes but it was everything the couple wanted in a picturesque setting.
“We couldn’t have ask for more!”
“It was an amazing location and we are so grateful for members of the Canadian Coast Guard who came to our rescue.”
