New Fire Chief for Brighton

Brighton is pleased to announce that James Smith has been hired as Brighton’s Fire Chief starting on October 19th.

Mr. Smith brings over 25 years’ progressive experience in fire and emergency management, having worked as a Fire Fighter; Fire Services Instructor; Fire Chief; and, most recently as District Fire Chief for the Rocky View Fire Department in Balzac, Alberta where he was responsible for 7 fire stations and a blended professional/volunteer force of over 200. His extensive experience in incident response, command, and investigations; training and managing in a unionized environment; short and long-term planning and budgeting; and report writing, is complemented with full
certification from the National Fire Protection Association.

The Fire Chief is responsible for the sound management, leadership and strategic direction of the Brighton Fire Department and is an important member of the Senior Management Team.
