COVID-19 didn’t stop local Chestnut Park Real Estate Realtor, Fionna Barrington, from hosting her 4th fundraiser in support of Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Center. Traditionally a backyard garden party, Barrington took her event online, with the virtual event raising $8,750 to provide support to women, children and youth impacted by family violence or abuse.

Barrington, who hosted her first event in 2017, encouraged her network to donate while engaging in an online event that featured a video tour of Cornerstone’s facilities. The event was a tremendous success; with funds raised Cornerstone will be able to provide 70 nights of shelter, or 350 hours of counselling.

“I know there is a high demand for Cornerstone in our community – especially now during the pandemic. Supporting the crucial work Cornerstone does to help women and children in crisis, transition to a safe and independent life is really important,” says Barrington. “Family violence continues to be an issue in our community, and I am happy to do my part by facilitating gifts, raising awareness, and opening a dialogue amongst my network,” adds Barrington.

“At Cornerstone we strive to help as many women and children as possible, and receiving support from our community enables us to continue to carry out our mission,” says Janelle Eisler, Manager of Community Engagement. “People like Fionna who are willing to put the time into organizing events like this are truly making a difference for us. We are grateful to Fionna, and her guests, for their continued support and for making this event such a success,” adds Eisler.
