Cobourg artist Jenny Duda has once again added art with a message to the shoreline.
Creating two messages on driftwood she found along the shoreline, Duda says she would like to get the message across to anyone visiting the beach area, what you bring with you, please take home.
“If you can carry it in, please carry it out – we Love our beach” and “Leave only footprints – we love our beach” were put on two boards and placed along the boardwalk at the bottom of Bagot Street.
Next it was off to the fence along Victoria Beach where a number of artworks created by Duda adorn the fenceline of the closed off beach.
Duda created a takeoff of a Banksy painting. Banksy is a world known street artist from England.
Duda used one of Banksy’s images and moulded into an image she has a great concern about – garbage.
“I’ve found a lot of Tim Hortons cups littered all over the place on all parts of the beach and throughout Cobourg.”
Copying the painting of Banksy, Duda took out where a balloon would be and put a Tim Hortons cup in place.
“There reason for that, is I wanted to get the idea that a Tim Horton cup that is released – it doesn’t disappear. It has to be picked up by someone or it becomes part of the ill quality of the environment.”
