Cobourg Fire Department were dispatched to smoke coming from a roof on Wednesday, July 22, 2020.
At approximately 2:40 p.m. firefighters were dispatched to a home on Carlisle Street, just west of Burnham Street.
Homeowners evacuated the home before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters determined workers installing a air conditioning unit and while drilling a hole at the bottom of an outside wall, it’s believe a spark ignited the interior of the wall and light smoke was coming from the vent area of the roof.
The fire appeared to have extinguished itself, but fire crews removed part of the drywall to make sure there was no extension into the wall and roof area.
