Fencing and Signs Up – Victoria Beach in Cobourg Closed for Summer

June 5 beach

Victoria Beach in Cobourg is now officially closed for the summer.

It took approximately three days from the first arrival of the fencing on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 to the time the signs were put up on Friday, but the hard work by staff from Cobourg got the job done.

With councils decision to close the beach on Monday, June 1, 2020 the wheels were set in motion.

The beach will be closed until at least August 31, 2020.

By Wednesday afternoon and into Thursday morning, the Rent-All Centre had dropped off 2,000 feet of fence.

On Thursday morning, crews started with fencing and sandbags to anchor the fencing. By the afternoon the job was completed and fencing had been installed along the beach starting from Division Street to Green Street. There is a five metre path from the boardwalk to the fencing along the beach.

One couple who came down on Thursday were disappointed by the town’s decision to close the beach.

On Friday, town staff place five large signs to the entrances of town including County Road 2, Highway 401 and along with other areas.
