Family of Four Escapes Blaze in Campbellford

April 25 fire

A family of four luckily escaped a blaze that destroyed their home in Campbellford on Saturday, April 25, 2020.

Trent Hills Fire Chief Tim Blake said the family including a motheer, twin eight-year-old boys and a two-year-old girl escaped the fire that quickly engulfed their two storey wood home on Ranney Street North.

Blake said there were multiple 9-1-1 calls about the fire and heavy smoke could be seen throughout the town as firefighters responded to the fire shortly before 5 p.m.
When fire crews arrived there were flames coming from numerous windows.

Blake said firefighters initially thought there were members of the family inside the home and initiated an interior attack, but once it was determined all members of the family including two dogs and a cat were safely out of the home, firefighters switched to a defense attack and found the fire from outside the home.

Blake said it appears to be nothing suspicious with the fire that is believed to have started in the kitchen area.

Damage is estimated at $350,000.
