Alderville First Nation Declares State of Emergency
Alderville First Nation Chief Dave Mowat and Council have issued a State of Emergency.
In an emergency meeting held on April 2, 2020 Chief and Council met and came to the resolution that all retail stores on Alderville Fire Nation lands will be closed as of April 3, 2020 by 6 p.m.
The ONLY exception to the closures will be retail sales of gasoline and fuel during the daily hours of 6 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Chief and Council Order #2 (Rescinding Order #1) State of Emergency April 2, 2020
The Chief and Council of Alderville First Nation hereby orders that all retail stores operating on Alderville First Nation lands be closed as of April 3, 2020 by 6:00 pm.
At this time, the only exception to business closures will be retail sales of gasoline and fuel during the daily hours of 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This order is made in every effort to keep Alderville First Nation safe from community transmission of the COVID-19 virus.
Premier Doug Ford said today, it is “a matter of life and death.”
We therefore declare a State of Emergency over all Alderville First Nation lands under the authority of the Alderville First Nation Chi Naaknigewin (Constitution).
This State of Emergency will be rescinded by Chief and Council only when it is deemed safe to do so. There are no exceptions to this ORDER. Failure to comply will result in enforcement action in cooperation with the Ontario Provincial Police.
