Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services Looking for New Deputy Fire Chief

A career listing put out by the Municipality on January 24, 2020 states the Municipality is looking for a new Deputy Fire Chief.
Deputy Fire Chief Reno Levesque’s last day with Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services is on February 10.
Levesque is leaving for a new position as training officer with Ajax Fire and Emergency Services.
Levesque was hired by the Municipality on April 24, 2017 working under the direction of Fire Chief C. Ryan Edgar.

“Reno has been instrumental in rejuvenating our volunteer firefighter training program which has been recognized as being one of the best,” said Edgar.

“He has used his high level of skill to assist us in bringing our operational readiness to a whole new level and his work and determination will be missed by both the administrative and operational staff of PHFES (Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services).”

“Reno’s dedication over the last couple of years has assisted us in becoming renowned for the professionalism and skill that our department members showcase on a daily basis.”

“Reno, your dedication and commitment will be missed and we wish you well into the future.”

The notice by the Municipality states, the new Deputy Fire Chief will be responsible to assist the Director of Fire and Emergency Services/Fire Chief in all aspects of the department operations (including the role as first responder) and fire prevention; oversees training and building/mechanical requirements and shall assume the duties of the Director of Fire and Emergency Services/Fire Chief in his/her absence or as assigned.

The closing date for applications is February 16, 2020.
