Port Hope Non Profit Housing Corporation Board Pay Tribute to Former Chair

The Board of Directors and employees of the Port Hope Non Profit Housing Corporation gathered at the Northumberland Hill Hospital in Cobourg Monday morning to pay tribute to Gerry Houston.

Houston was the President/Chair of the organization since its inception in 1986 until this year. Having volunteered for 33 years ensuring low cost housing for those in need until suffering a stroke earlier this year and after which he decided to resign from the Board.

The Port Hope Non Profit Housing Corporation oversees the management of 79 units in two areas of Port Hope with a mix of geared to income and market value rent that consists of a 36 unit apartment known as the Houston Apartments & 13 town house units at the corner of Peter St. & Rose Glen Rd. and 30 Town House units on McCall St. in Port Hope.

Bill Hubbs the current President/Chair of the Port Hope Non Profit Housing Corporation presented Mr. Houston with a plaque in testament to the fact that the Board had proclaimed him to be an Honourary President of the Corporation and an Honourary Chair of the Board of Directors in gratitude for his 33 years of continuous volunteer service.

Mrs. Houston was presented with flowers during the presentation.
