Seven people facing numerous drug charges following search warrant by Cobourg Police on Friday, November 8, 2019.
The Cobourg Police Service has executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances act warrant at a Hibernia Street residence early Friday morning as part of an ongoing enhanced enforcement strategy targeting illegal drug activity affecting our community and the safety of our citizens.
On Friday the 8th day of November, 2019 as part of a drug enforcement operation, officers of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigations Branch, Uniform Patrol and Forensic Identification Services with the assistance of Durham Regional Police Service Tactical Support Unit executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a Hibernia Street residence in Cobourg.
As a result of this investigation and search, police seized a quantity of cocaine and methamphetamine with a street value of approximately $1640.00, as well as a large amount of Canadian Currency. Also within the residence police located several cell phones and folding knives. Seven people were arrested and charges with a total of 27 Criminal charges laid.
Arrested persons and charges are as follows;
Jason FROST, 40 years of age, of Cobourg is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code
3. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code
Karleigh HORSLEY, 21 years of age, of Cobourg is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code
3. Fail to Comply with Undertaking contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code
Danale MCCARRELL, 37 years of age, of Cobourg is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code
3. Fail to Comply with Probation X’s 3 contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
Jeffrey O’NEILL, 42 years of age, of Cobourg is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code
3. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
4. Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
5. Possession of a Weapon Contrary to Order, contrary to section 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code
6. Fail to Comply with Probation X’s 2 contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code
Patricia SASS, 44 years of age, of Cobourg is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code
Benjamin STAPLES, 41 years of age, of Cobourg is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code
3. Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
4. Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the Criminal Code
Jomone WALKER, 23 years of age, of Brampton is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
2. Possession of a Prohibited Weapon contrary to section 91(2) of the Criminal Code
3. Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
This brings the total of 11 people charged with drug offences after two search warrants in one week in Cobourg.
Chief Paul VandeGraaf stated with Friday’s warrant there was concern a weapon may have been inside the residence, “so we were grateful to our policing partners from Durham Regional Police Service for assistance with their Tactical Support Unit.”
All Seven arrested parties held for bail hearings scheduled for November 8, 2019.
