Two Quebec men went home empty handed after their salmon were seized.
On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, Northumberland OPP were in Port Hope when they were notified by anglers of possible illegal activity taking place along the Ganaraska River at approximately 1:50 p.m.
Police stopped the vehicle on Ontario Street at the Petro-Can gas station just south of Highway 401 and notified the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry officers.
After investigation by the MNRF, the driver was charged with transporting illegally caught fish and a passenger was charged with snagging and netting and were issued a summons to appear in Cobourg Court.
The 16 salmon were seized along with a net and fishing rod.
