Members of the Port Hope Police Service will be doing something different in the coming days.

They will of course be enforcing laws, but members of the Port Hope Police Association will also be putting smiles among members of the community.

Sgt. John Oosterhof who is the secretary/treasurer of the Port Hope Police Association said they have purchased a number of gift cards from Tim Horton’s and will be presenting them to people.

“We want to share something back to the community as an Association. Our membership are very big about being part of the community and working with the community.”

“What better way to share with them and make it over to Tim Horton’s and have a cup of coffee on us.”

The officers on general patrol will have a number of cards they will be handing out throughout the day to people they come across.

“I don’t know a lot of police that don’t like a cup of coffee, I, myself am a big fan, so sharing with people is another way of connecting with them.”

The Association supports a number of activities throughout the year for the community of Port Hope and Oosterhof adds, “anything we can do to make our community better, makes us better as a result.”
