Car Slams Into Pet Food Store In Cobourg
The owner of a pet food store said it felt like an explosion when a car hit the building in Cobourg.
“We were all standing here and there was a lady at the counter when all of a sudden there was a bang and dust was flying everywhere,” said owner Justin McClenaghan from Justin’s Pet Food on Division Street at approximately 1 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2019.
Initially McClenaghan thought the air conditioner had exploded on the roof, but it was quickly determined a vehicle had jumped a barrier and slammed into the building.
The woman is a regular customer and had just arrived at the store when the accident happened.
Emergency services quickly arrived on scene and the woman was treated for minor injuries.
When the vehicle hit the wall, the air bag was deployed in the vehicle and the impact was so violent that three coolers inside the store were shoved into the aisles.
There is no word the extent of damage to the building.
