Broken Water Pipe Causes Damage To Staples In Cobourg
A underground broken pipe has caused the closure of Staples in Cobourg on Wednesday, March 27, 2019.
At approximately 11:39 a.m. members of the Cobourg Fire Department were dispatched to Staples on Elgin Street regarding a flood that had taken place.
A large amount of water was coming up from inside the store warehouse.
The extent of water caused it to come out from both the front door and the back loading dock area of the store.
Water to the store was shut down as quickly as possible and it was determined that the main water pipe to the store had ruptured below the store area in the warehouse.
Cobourg Fire Department Captain Kevin Schroeder said, “a lot of product did get wet,” but it’s unknown the extent of damage.
Along with the water in the warehouse, there was water in the store for at least two of the aisles.
A representative of the store said the earliest the store would be open is 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
