Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment Cadet Corps 88 Holds Winter Field Exercise
Over the weekend the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment Cadet Corps 88 held a winter field exercise by their armouries in Cobourg.
The purpose of the exercise was to teach the cadets age 12-18 how to set up winter tents, camping, improvised shelters and cooking outside along with the safety aspects.
“It challenges them personally completing the tasks we’ve given them and it means they can accomplish tasks in life,” said Command Officer John Sudano.
On Sunday, February 17, 2019 cadets broke up into four groups and were given the challenge to go down a course and set up tents, then make coffee to give to the Commanding Officer before dismantling the tents and racing back across the finish line.
“The cadets working together to put the tents up is not a one man job. It’s a team.”
Sudano jokingly said after trying the coffee from each group, “it was interesting.”
