Durham Police – Teen Arrested After Fleeing from Police

A teenager attempted to flee from police in a stolen pick-up Wednesday evening in Bowmanville.

On Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at approximately 7:30 p.m., a citizen contacted police and advised that he observed his stolen vehicle being driven in the area of King Street and Scugog Street in Bowmanville. Members of East Division responded quickly and attempted to stop the stolen vehicle. The driver failed to stop, striking two police cruisers as he attempted to escape. He was eventually stopped and arrested. Police also seized a Taser in the vehicle. One officer from East Division suffered minor injuries during the collision.

A 17-year-old male from Clarington was charged with: Theft of Motor Vehicle; Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000; Fail to Stop for Police; Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle; Unlicenced Person Possess Prohibited Weapon; Possession of a Prohibited Weapon; Occupy Motor Vehicle with Prohibited Weapon and Class G1 Licence Holder Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver. He was held for a bail hearing.
