Officials Believe Firetruck Did Not Suffer Any Major Damage

A Cobourg firetruck that slid into the ditch and rolled on its side on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 appears to have not suffered any major damage.
The emergency vehicle was responding to a collision on Elgin Street East at Workman Road when it went into the ditch with two firefighters on board.
Neither firefighter was hurt and both walked away and remained on scene until the apparatus was towed from the scene.
A police cruiser along with several other vehicles also went into the ditch.
Cobourg Fire Chief Mike Vilneff said the equipment that was in the firetruck has been loaded onto other apparatus and there should be no significant impact with service.
In a case of a major fire emergency, assistance would be called from neighboring fire departments.
Town of Cobourg plows/salt trucks were not on the roads until after 7 a.m.
