Numerous Collisions Following First Snowfall In Northumberland County

Two people were trapped in a van that collided with a pickup truck on County Road 28 north of Port Hope on November 15, 2018 shortly before 6 p.m.
The t-bone collision sent the pickup truck into the ditch while the van blocked the roadway.  It appears the vehicles were travelling in the opposite direction when the collision happened.
Port Hope firefighters extricated the driver and passenger from the van, the driver of the pickup truck wasn’t hurt.
County Road 28 was blocked for at least an hour.
There was another serious collision on County Road 45 that appeared to be a head-on collision, but there is no update at press time.
It was just one of several collisions in Northumberland County that had every fire department in the County responding.
As soon as the snow started to fall the collisions started to happen on area roadways including Highway 401.
In Cobourg there were collisions at Elgin Street and William Street, Elgin Street and Division Street and University Avenue and Spring Street.
As of 10:20 p.m. there are no reports of serious injuries.
