MNRF – $1,000 Fine for Using a Vehicle to Run over a Goose
A Peterborough County man has been fined for an offence under the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act.
Kyle Charlton of Lakefield pleaded guilty to deliberately using a vehicle to injure wildlife and was fined $1,000.
Court heard that on June 22, 2018, a Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry conservation officer responded to information about a goose that had been run over in the Township of Douro-Dummer, Peterborough County. The investigation revealed that Charlton was driving when he observed a family of geese on the road. He sped up and then changed lanes to hit one of the geese.
Justice of the Peace Mark Donohue heard the case in the Ontario Court of Justice, Peterborough, on October 11, 2018.
