Peterborough Police – Assault With Weapon Arrest Involving Syringes

A 47-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges of assault with a weapon following a weekend incident in the downtown.

Shortly after midnight on August 4, 2018 police received a call regarding a male running in the downtown core with syringes and threatening people in the area. Officers were dispatched to the area of King and George Streets and were told that the man was now in front of a downtown establishment threatening and attempting to stab people with the syringes.

Officers located the male on George Street North where he was apprehended and placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation Claude Joseph Gagnon, 47, of Middlefield Road, is charged with the following:

The accused appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on August 4, 2018, was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again in court on August 7, 2018.
