Ross McKie from the Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums plays the bagpipes for the start of the summer in Cobourg Harbour for the annual tradition of Piping the Sun Down.
The Cobourg Legion Pipes and Drums borrowed the tradition from a pipe band in Kincardine three years ago.
Different members of the band will be performing every night of the week weather permitting (other than Tuesday as the Concert Band of Cobourg performs at the bandshell in Victoria Park)
Pipe Major Mary Ito said, “it’s so different piping by yourself versus piping in the middle of a band of many.”
“To me it is just a reminder to us all not to take our days for granted, we thank the sun for brightening our days and everything it gives us.”
