Durham Police – UPDATE – One Male Arrested after Homicide in Cannington

Shooting death is being deemed a non-culpable homicide by investigators.

The investigation revealed that a resident of the Hillside Crescent home was defending himself from a violent situation when he shot and killed the 38-year-old male on April 20, 2018. The circumstances involved are not criminal in nature and no charges are being laid, a determination that is supported by the Crown Attorney’s office. The incident will be recorded as a non-culpable homicide – a death not criminal in nature, caused by accident or self defence.

One Male Arrested after Homicide in Cannington

Police are investigating a homicide after one male was found deceased at a residence this morning in Cannington.

On Friday, April 20, 2018, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of North Division were called to a residence on Hillside Crescent in Cannington for shots fired. Police located a male who resides at this residence with gunshot wounds. Another male resident was taken into custody. This is an isolated incident and there are no outstanding suspects.

The victim Brian Shane WINDSOR, age 38, of Hillside crescent in Cannington was pronounced at the scene. This is Durham Region’s sixth homicide victim of 2018.
